Pre-Conference Workshop-2019
Pre-Conference Workshop: Definition: A ballpark figure is a rough numerical estimate or approximation commonly used to estimate current or future results |
Overview
A Workshop on “Ball Park” Estimating of Solar and Heat Pump systems was provided prior to the Conference – followed by a tour of the renovated First Universalist facility.
The Goals of the workshop were simple:
Start with your organization’s current electric & natural gas annual usage (bills) to define your energy needs
- Quantify the “harm” the current fossil fuel system is doing (i.e. metric tonnes of CO2)
- Envision a new sustainable 21st-century energy system that has zero GHG emissions (using solar PV and some form of heat pump technology for heating and cooling)
- Estimate the approximate (“Ball Park”) size and cost of a sustainable solar photovoltaic (PV) system for generating all of your electrical power (with zero emissions)
- Estimate the approximate size and cost of a sustainable heat pump system for all of your heating and cooling requirements (with zero emissions)
- Update the power requirements, solar size and cost to include the heat pump system
- Construct a “Revenue-Neutral” member-funded approach (that does not require a change in the organization’s operating budget) as a baseline for comparing other options.
